What is a profile address?

In a customer data platform, a profile address is the primary mailing address of a contact, most likely belonging to a customer and used for shipping and billing.

Profile addresses are also valuable for geo-specific marketing strategies, which help your brand stay relevant with location-specific content.

Important note: To make sure you’re GDPR compliant, you must receive explicit from your customers to send them marketing messages (and consent must be sought for every separate channel). Just because someone purchased a product from your online store doesn’t mean you have consent to contact them for marketing purposes.

4 ways to use profile addresses for marketing

  1. Segment your target audience: Use geolocation data to segment your customers and create personalised messages specific to location trends, news, and quirks.
  2. Tailor offers to location: For example, if one of your major revenue markets is celebrating a city-specific milestone, you can create an entire campaign with a compelling offer based on the anniversary or event.
  3. Target audiences near your physical store: With geofencing, you can send targeted messages to customers through Meta ads or an app to encourage them to buy from you again when they’re near your store.
  4. Send event invites and reminders: Remind customers of any brand-related events happening in their region. To increase attendance, incentivise potential visitors through on-site promotions, coupons, and gifts.
