Titan Fitness saves 75 developer hours per month with Klaviyo
Titan Fitness provides premium fitness equipment—from barbells to weight racks—without the premium price. Their mission: to help people reach their goals, no matter where they are in their fitness journey.
Over the past 7 years, they have become one of the fastest-growing fitness equipment and home gym brands, aggressively expanding their customer base.
Learn why Titan Fitness chose Klaviyo—while still paying for their prior ESP
Challenge
Titan Fitness’ previous ESP meant their email marketing manager couldn’t do her job. Not autonomously.
It was one of the first things Brandon Maskell, director of digital strategy and analytics, noticed when he started at the company: The email lead was hamstrung by the highly technical email platform, unable to set up a segment or a flow without help from multiple contract developers.
Those contractors cost Titan thousands of dollars a month—on top of their payments for their SaaS solution—and the frequent handoffs involved in basic email tasks chewed up time.
Unfortunately, Titan had signed an ironclad, 3-year extension on their email software contract. There was no way out. Or was there?
Solution
Maskell ran the numbers, and discovered that if Titan moved to Klaviyo—while still paying for their current ESP—they would still save.
He and the email marketing manager would be able to handle email on their own, and reduce spend on external developers. From an efficiency standpoint, it was a no-brainer.
“You can do the same things in Klaviyo and our prior ESP, but it’s going to take you 5x as long and cost you 5x as much money in the old email solution,” Maskell says.
Strategy
Today, Titan uses Klaviyo as a “CDP lite,” Maskell says.
The brand has integrated their online store and 4 other softwares with Klaviyo, including:
- Aftership: This integration empowers Titan to customize their post-purchase communications, and tell customers when an order will arrive in multiple packages. They can also dynamically pull catalog images into their Aftership-triggered flow, to show customers which items will arrive in which package.
- Facebook and Google Ads: Titan uses these integrations to turn their Klaviyo segments into audiences to better optimize their paid acquisition and retention efforts.
- Reviews.io: With this integration, Titan has set up a custom API event—“Order Completely Delivered”—as the trigger for their review request flow. Now they never ask for a review before the customer’s product arrives, even if a delivery gets delayed,.
Connecting Klaviyo to so many external apps makes it an even more powerful email automation engine, and the brand’s source of truth for a customer’s browsing, purchasing, and reviewing history.
“Klaviyo’s ease of use and extensibility with apps empowers team members to do their jobs,” says Maskell. “Beyond that, Klaviyo constantly puts out new features, and leads the market on that front.”
