What is BIMI?

BIMI, or Brand Indicators for Message Identification, is an email specification that displays brand logos in inboxes when you send emails to recipients. BIMI increases brand recognition, instills trust in your brand, and improves your email deliverability.

When you send an email, the recipient’s inbox provider, such as Gmail, checks your DNS records to authenticate that the message comes from you. If BIMI is set up, inbox providers may display your logo next to the email in the inbox. This helps your emails avoid the spam folder and reach the recipient directly.

How to prepare and add BIMI to your account

To add BIMI to your account for successful email marketing, follow these 3 steps:

  1. Implement necessary email authentication protocols: For BIMI to work, you need to set up 3 email authentication protocols. These include DMARC, DKIM, and SPF.
  2. Design and upload a BIMI-compliant logo: To successfully upload a logo, it needs to be BIMI-compliant. This requires it to be in SVG (.svg) format, square with a centered logo, stored using HTTPS, and not larger than 32 kb.
  3. Trademark your logo: Obtain a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) issued by a BIMI-approved Certificate Authority (CA), which will strengthen your brand identity and make you even more trustworthy for email recipients.
